Sprint State Level Athletic Meet is one of the top Athletic Meets for school children and is hosted by the Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Group of Schools. It is supposed to be one of the prestigious sports events of Tamil Nadu. With a hat - trick of success, the fourth edition of Sprint was slated for 8th and 9th of February, 2018 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai. Our students were aware that ascending the victory podium in Sprint will be certainly a prelude to the Olympics in the future. With this prudence, thirty five students under 10 & 14 categories represented our school.
We are happy to announce that our students came out with flying colors setting new records in the History of Sprint. In the U-14 girls’ category, Nitisa L Bastin of Class IX bagged a gold medal in the discus throw. Sharanyaa A of Class IX bagged a gold medal in the shot put throw, thereby setting a new record with a throw length of 9.12 mts. It was a crowning achievement for Sharanyaa as she was able to break the previous record of 7.67 mts. Likewise, Josna K of Class VIII bagged a gold medal in the High Jump, setting a new record, by achieving a jumped length of 1.35 mts. It was a very close call for Josna but she did it by breaking the previous record of 1.30 mts. Similarly, in U-10 girls’ category, Snigdha, of Class IV bagged a silver medal in shot put throw. In the U-14 boys’ category Vinay Charan, of Class VIII bagged a bronze medal in shot put throw. Aashish of Class VIII bagged a bronze medal in the high jump.
