The Harvest festival, ‘Pongal’ was celebrated on 18th of January, 2018 in the KG Block. The entrance was decorated with beautiful, colourful kolams. The students of KG, 1and 2 were dressed in traditional attires. The students enjoyed witnessing the day’s programmes. Sweet Pongal and colorful take homes were given to the students.
In the Senior Block, the festival was celebrated on 18th of January, 2018 in the school premises. As a usual practice, the Principal and the students of Tiruvalluvar School were invited. The Principal of Tiruvalluvar School lighted the lamp to mark the commencement of the programme. The students of Primary Classes presented a folk dance, a song and a speech about the festival. The students of Tiruvalluvar School presented a folk song about the farmers’ lives in a village. The delicious dish Sweet Pongal was prepared in an earthen pot. The children enjoyed witnessing the overflowing of milk and made yodelling sound of “Pongalo pongal”. The Programme came to an end with the distribution of sweet pongal to the students.
