BVMG Shark Tank shows aspiring entrepreneur-contestants as they make business presentations to a panel of ‘Shark’ investors, who then choose whether to invest. Continuing with the school’s commitment in inculcating life skills in their curriculum, Shark Tank was held on Thursday, 11th January, 2018. The programme commenced with the school prayer followed by the introduction of the Sharks – Mr Sriraj Mavat, Mr Shiv Ananthakrishnan and Mr Sathish Venugopal. Our Principal Mr P.G. Subramanian, Vice Principal Ms Rohini Mahajan, along with other dignitaries Ms Bhanu Shankar, Principal of BVMi School and Mr Rajendran, our Educational Director graced the occasion with their presence. The participants along with their accompanying teacher from BVMG Perungudi were warmly welcomed. Mr Sathish Venugopal gave a short, yet inspiring and insightful speech on three things- Change, Creativity and Technology which are the key to success.
The sharks then took their seats to judge the programme. The first round which took place was the ‘Shark Hunt Round’, where 17 teams each comprising of 3 young entrepreneurs presented their products and showcased their inventive ideas.
Innovative products were presented as solutions to everyday problems. Some of the products presented were: Neurotransmitters and Microbots, CyRent, Jjiffee, Enertiles, Portabev, Flipper, Tesibius, ZEST (Zero Energy Soap water Treatment) and Conservatre papers. Mr Sriraj recapitulated the first round and also provided suggestions. After a short lunch break, the teams which had qualified for the second round, the ‘Shark Bite Round’, were announced – Flipper, Conservative Paper, Jjiffee, CyRent and Tesibius. Following the announcement, the ‘Shark Bite Round’ commenced with the presentation of the product, CyRent, by Anand and his team. The sharks asked many questions to the team addressing their marketing strategies, capital and management. 3 Business deals were proffered by the sharks.
After this fruitful session, the prize distribution took place. The prizes were sponsored by Mr Shivanandha Krishnan of Byju’s and a special prize was sponsored by Mr Satheesh Venugopal. The 2 Most Promising Team Awards were won by Varun, Vikram and Gokul for Flipper and by Vishnu, Revanth and Anantharaman for Conservative Paper. The Best Presenter Award was won by Mayuri of Jjiffee. The Best Idea Award was given to Mamallan, Sudharshan and Dheeraj for Enertiles. The Special Prize was awarded to Anusha, Amritha and Shraddha for PortaBev, a portable beverage maker. The Most Confident Team Award was awarded to Anand, Vinithra and Vasummati from BVM Global@ Perungudi. The Sharks’ Choice Award was received by Vaibow, Kailash and Varun for IR Blaster. Mr Shivanandha Krishnan delivered a short speech. Our Principal, Mr. P.G. Subramanian gave a short speech thanking the Sharks for motivating the students. The programme came to an end with the vote of thanks and the National Anthem. It was a very informative programme conveying the significance of entrepreneurship and team spirit.
